Let’s keep Melissa’s legacy of good citizenship going strong in the form of this annual scholarship. The Melissa J. Schlag Good Citizenship Education Award Fund is managed by the Community Foundation of Middlesex County. Each spring the guidance department at Haddam-Killingworth High School will offer our scholarship application to graduating high school seniors to consider. The guidance department and actual H-K teachers will recommend a deserving student who is pursuing studies in one of Melissa’s core strengths: environmental studies, civics, political science, journalism or communications. The Community Foundation of Middlesex County alerts us of the awardee. Tanja Moriarty and other friends of Melissa present the scholarship to the recipient at the HK-HS ceremony each spring.
